Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 43 Page 2 003-2203 <br />Ames continued SF blast drilling in Phase IVa at the 9640 access road station 22+00. Ames blasted <br />on December 4'~ at 16:30, on December 6a' at 16:30, and at the Southern Access Road (SAR) on <br />December 12a' and 13`s at 16:30. <br />Phase IVb <br />Ames performed excavation remediation activities for known underground workings UG-202, UG- <br />204, UG-209a, and UG-209b. The workings were observed and verified to be "Shallow" or "Deep" <br />as defined in the drawings and will be remediated accordingly. <br />Ames began placement of Coazse Shaft Backfill (CSB) into "Deep" underground working UG-251. <br />Ames performed clearing and grubbing of topsoil and removed trees near the temporary access road <br />and in the westem portion of Fhase IVb. Topsoil and slash were piled locally and relocated to the <br />permanent topsoil stockpile above Phase IVc. <br />Ames resumed removal of old Highway 67 pavement between the Cazlton Mill and the west edge of <br />Phase IVb, nearly completing pavement removal. Pavement was hauled to Upper Arequa Gulch. <br />Ames began Structural Fill (SF) placement and compaction activities in the eastern and central portion <br />of the Phase IVb footprint. SF materials were placed in horizontal lifts typically not exceeding 2 feet in <br />loose thickness. A Caterpillaz CS563C roller provided compactive effort, while a Caterpillaz water <br />wagon provided moisture conditioning when needed or required. SF was borrowed from the slope <br />recontouring activities near the 9640 road and from local borrows. <br />Phase IVc <br />Ames resumed grubbing and topsoil removal in the westem portion of Phase IVc. Ames hauled <br />deleterious material to Upper Arequa Gulch and hauled topsoil to. the permanent stockpile above <br />Phase IVc. <br />Ames performed excavation remediation activities for known underground workings UG-208b, UG- <br />229, UG-219b, UG-220, UG-221, UG-222, UG-228, UG-513, UG-514, UG-515, and UNK-07. The <br />workings were observed and verified to be "Shallow" or "Deep" as defined in the drawings and will be <br />remediated accordingly. <br />Ames began placement of Coarse Shaft Backfill (CSB) into "Deep" underground workings UG-222, <br />UG-242, and UG-246b. Prior to CSB placement, Ames removed the existing concrete caps at UG-242 <br />and UG-246b. <br />Ames constmcted a geogrid cap over workings and laterals at UG-243, UG-244, and UG-245. Ames <br />placed two layers of geogrid in accordance with the drawings and specifications. <br />Ames performed confirmatory drilling activities associated with the Phase Nc constmction azea on <br />known underground working UG-234a and UG-229. <br />LJ <br />ewerv.on«z.~s.ro~ Golder Associates Inc. <br />
