Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 43 Page 3 003-2203
Ames continued placement of SF in Phase IVc at the saddle berm and below edge of pad stations
• 43+00 through 47+00. Ames conducted local cut to fill in this location. SF materials were placed in
horizontal lifts typically not exceeding 2 feet in loose thickness. A Caterpillaz CS563C roller provided
compactive effort, while a Caterpillaz water wagon provided moisture conditioning when needed or
required.
(See Attachment A for approximate construction locations for all Phase IV areas.)
Field Monitorins and Testin¢ Activities
Golder observed construction activities associated with Phase N earthworks. All construction
materials and soil materials were verified as suitable, and construction methods were in accordance
with project specifications. Removal of oversized and deleterious material from all fill areas was
observed. Golder conducted temperature measurements of fill material prior to placement. No fill
was placed until fill temperatures met the requirements of the specifications.
Golder observed clearing and grubbing within the Phase IV azea. All available topsoil was removed
and deleterious material hauled to Upper Arequa Gulch.
Golder observed removal of old HWY 67 pavement. Pavement was hauled to Upper Arequa Gulch.
Golder observed placement of geogrid at UG-243 through UG-245. Geogrid was placed in
accordance with the drawings and specifications over the designated azea. Golder obtained geogrid
samples of lots placed for conformance testing.
Golder observed and documented excavation and remediation activities associated with the Phase IV
underground working construction. Full time monitoring was given to remediation of underground
workings.
Golder received and reviewed Ames submittal #1 regazding Concrete Plug Mix design from Transit
Mix. The mix design submitted meets all the requirements of the specifications (Section 03320,
Concrete Plug) with the exception of the cement type. The mix design proposed Type I/II cement
and the specifications required Type V. Golder reviewed the submittal and found it to meet the
requirements for use as concrete plug concrete based on the technical data provided. Golder will
submit a letter documenting the acceptance of this submittal to CC&V.
Laboratory Test Results
Golder collected and tested samples of Structural Fill (SFc-O1) and Select Structural Fill (SSFc-O1)
from material placed in Phase IVc for laboratory testing. Material sampled met specifications and a
summary of test results aze presented in Attachment C.
Phue IVa 4J Dec2-IS doc Golder Associates Inc.
