The well designated in Appendix 3-4 as the Carbon Canyon #1 well (permit #
25629-F) may be well PWl (82~). This well was permitted through CDWR as fde
26846-F in 1983 and re-permitted under CDWR permit # 31082-F in 1986. This
well also appears to be the well for which water rights were decreed in Case No.
82CW 149 io 1983. In the application for water rights the well is described as the
Ewing Trust #1 well which is corroborated by the CDWR well permit designation
25629-F on the application for water rights in Appendix 3-4. ~It appears that well
PWl has been designated as 82~ (drillers log), the Ewing Trust #1 well (water
rights application), and Carbon Canyon #1 well (CDWR well permit applications)
during various times since 1982. However, all appear to refer to the same well, as
evidenced by the described and depicted location, depth, and description of flow
conditions.
Well PWI is not used for water monitoring at the Carbon Junction Mine. The
water monitoring program as described on pages 5-36 (revised 9/1997) and 5-36a
(revised 5/1995) reflect the currently monitored wells. Well PWl (82-4) was
monitored from the fourth calendar quarter of 1982 to the fourth calendar quarter
of 1993, when it was deleted from the water monitoring program.
