Mr. Randy Overton • •
December 2, 1977
Page 2
Plan policies for this area would at this time support the agri-
~ cultural and certain kinds of recreational uses. Intensive residen-
~~ tial development in this area would be in conflict with all proposed
r~~ County goals for this area.
~P The Planning Commission and the County Staff felt this was an important
matter and the Martin Marietta Corporation indicated that as residen-
tial use of the property would be quite far in the future, they had
no objections to amending their application to eliminate this future
use.
Listed below are items which the County felt warranted further investiga-
tion or additional detail. These matters were discussed with the Plan-
ning Commission at the public hearing:
1. A metes and bounds legal description of the property actually
included in the mining operation (including waste areas) should be
prepared, and boundaries of the permit area monumented in the
field.
In response to this request, Martin Marietta has stated that they
make periodic aerial surveys of their property which could be used
to monitor the progression of the mining operation. The Planning
Commisson believed this would be sufficient.
2. This site is located in the valley of St. Vrain Creek and impacts
extremely important water resources. The Staff concurs wi th the
~
~ o inion of the State En ineer in that the water resources aspect
f
~a°r o~ p rodect_have not been adequatel y presented nor have t e
_y~ impacts u on the d 1 1 nce of the affected area een
~J'- a sess We support further research an investiga on in is
area of concern particularly in regard to:
~ A. Ditches located on the property and proposed relocations of
~~~~ t, -' these facilities
~~,,,-- r- mpacts on surrounding wells
® A plan to augment the evaporative losses resulting from the
1~°4' y~.9"'r' creation of surface water storage areas.
`~~~ D. The Staff also suggests that it would be appropriate for the
9°'A Corporation to work with the St. Vrain and Left Hand Water
Conversancy District in addressing the concerns of that organ-
ization.
F. The flood plain of St. Vrain Creek
The Martin Marietta Corporation has indicated that they will co-
operate with the State Engineer and the St. Vrain and Left Hand
Water Conservancy District in addressing these concerns. The
Planning Commission believed this matter to be extremely important
