• Alluvial deposits were found along Foidel Creek in the proposed
permit and adjacent area. The headwaters of Foidel Creek are in
Eckman Park west of Energy Mine No. 1, and the stream flows to the
northeast, converging with Middle Creek within the proposed permit
area. Stream-flow in Foidel Creek occurs in response to snowmelt
and occasional runoff from rainstorms. The stream channel in the
proposed permit and adjacent area is almost straight with very few
meanders, and the streambed is above the local water table for most
of the year. A narrow floodplain is present downstream from IISGS
Gaging Station 09243900, as shown on Map 4, Mine No. 3 Hydrology.
Alluvial deposits were found in the floodplain of Middle Creek
downstream from IISGS Gaging Station 09243700 in the proposed permit
• area. Middle Creek headwaters are located in the Routt National
Forest in Township 3N, Range 87W and the stream flows north through
Twentymile Park into Trout Creek outside the general area.
Alluvial deposits were found in the floodplain of Fish Creek.
The streamcourse of Fiah Creek is highly sinuous in the adjacent
area, and exhibits meanders, oabowa and terraces in the floodplain.
The floodplain does pinch out, however, in one location adjacent to
Energy Tipple No. 3, where Fish Creek flows over a bedrock outcrop,
as show on Map 4, Mine No. 3 Hydrology.
Three areas within the proposed permit and adjacent area are
acknowledged as meeting the geomorphic criteria of alluvial valley
floors. As show on Map 4, Mine No. 3 Hydrology, these areas are:
2.06-15
