conducted using the scientific method of reviewing available
literature; defining the categories of data collection and the areas
to be studied in detail; collecting field data and observations;
assimilating data into tables, diagrams and maps; interpreting the
data in each category; and drawing final conclusions. In accordance
with Rule 2.06.8, this report is divided into three major
subheadings: Geomorphic Characteristics; 4later Availability
Characteristics; and Alluvial Valley Floor Determination.
Geomorphic Characteristics
Mapping of Dnconaolidated Deposits
The investigation was initiated by mapping unconsolidated
deposits within the general area, using geologic maps, aerial
• photographs and field observations. Geologic information was used
from the Geologic Map of Routt County, Colorado Geologic Survey,
1975, by A.E. Miller; Reconnaissance of Ground-hater Resources in a
part of the Yampa River Basin between Craig and Steamboat Springs,
Colorado, D.S. Geologic Survey Water-Resources Investigations Report
77-4, 1977, by R.E. Brogden and T.F. Giles; Surface Geologic Map of
the Twentymile park Area, 1977, and other proprietary maps owed by
CYCC. The .above referenced maps were draw using aerial
photography, ground reconnaissance and subsurface drilling and
geophysical techniques. The information compiled from these
references has been verified by field observations by CYCC
personnel.
•
The alluvial, terrace and landslide deposits in the drainages
of Middle, Foidel, Fiah, and Trout Creeks and their tributary stream
2.06-13
