Phase Acreage Season to~be Mined
• I 15.1 198586
II 9.2 1987-88
III 13.4 198991
Due to the shallow nature of this deposit no overburden is
anticipated. Y4~'~'f`~~ ~'~ lMppbs
Rorizoas of topsoil completely destroyed, and subse uently do
not have any scattered patches in Phase II of topsoil. The
topsoil from each phase will be stockpiled in the approximate
location as marked on the Mine Plan map. Topsoil stockpiles will
be situated, constructed, and maintained according toRule 6.4.
The amount of ground that will be affected for each~Phase is:
Phase I, 15.1 acres; Phase II, 9.2 acres; and Phase III, 13.4
acres.
• The Placers of Pennsylvania Mountain were formed by the
weathering of the primary source in place. This (with some
coluvial processes classify this deposit as being el~uvial-col-
luvial in nature. The major controlling factor of concentration
is an east-west trending leached fault zone. Since this zone is
less competent than surrounding rock, the weathered ~luvium is
much deeper in this area. This additional thickness',of eluvium
has been named the "Ice Dike" since it supports some permafrost.
The displacement of the fault appears to be less than 10
feet with the north side moving downward with resp~ct to the
south side. This elongated zone has been the focus Hof most of
the activity in the past.
• ~
~. ._._J
