The worst case cost for reclamation of the site will occur when the mine reserves have been fully
depleted, and a highwall width of 250 feet must be backfilled from 2H:1 V to 3H:1 V. For a height of
23 feet, this will require the difference of 793 sq.ft (3:1) and 529 sq.ft. (2:1), which is 264 sq. ft.
This azea x 250 feet length = 2449 cy. The shelf wetland of 0.40 acres must be created and all top-
soil must be replaced on the land from 5' below water level and above. The entire topsoiled azea
would need to be seeded, mulched and fertilized. The stages of the reclamation plan and the worst
case reclamation costs are given below:
Worst Case Reclamation Costs and Timetable
Task # Description Time (days) Cost
1 After removing all portable facilities, backfill 3 $2,204
slope from 2:1 to 3:1 for length of 250 feet.
