•
provide for an adequate seed bed. Chemical fertilizer will be worked into
the soil during seedbed preparation. The type of fertilizer to be used and
application rates will be based on the results of soils tests. Note: for
reclamation planning and bonding purposes it is assumed that fertilizer
will be applied at a rate of 40 pounds per acre each of available nitrogen,
phosphate and potassium.
Seed Mixture and Seeding Rates
The proposed seed mixture for seeding disturbed areas consists of a
diverse mixture. The species were selected, in pact, on the basis of
current vegetation present on the site, and discussions with the current
lessee (who ranches the area) and the local office of the Soil Conservation
Service (Chuck Betts).
The proposed mixture appears below. Seeding rates are based on a
critical area planting density of 40 puce live seeds (PLS) per square foot
(drilled rate).
RECLAMATION SEED MIXTURE
Drilled Rate
Saecies % of Mix Pounds PLS/Ac.
Smooth Brome (Lincoln) 30 3.8
Western Wheatgrass (Arriba) 30 4.6
Big Bluegrass (Sherman) 15 0.3
Russian Wildrye (Vinall) 10 L.0
Hard Fescue (Durar) 10 0.3
Timothy (Climax) 5 01
Total 100 10.1
-9-
