B:I l/1 LOADOUT <br />\_.~ <br />2.04.6 GEOLOGY DESCRIPTION <br />General area descriptions oC geology and hydrology are included <br />in the permit for the RnlonCreekMinc, file number C-055-82. <br />Alluvium does exist in the vicinity oC the river but gives way <br />to silty, sandy clay and weathered shale in the permit area, as <br />shown by the boring data included in 2.04.7 (1) Ground Water <br />Information. <br />The Pierre Shale formation, which is the immediate bedrock, is <br />approximately 1800 feet thick in the permit area and is only <br />20-25 feet below the surface. The upper beds of the formation <br />are 100-200 feet thick and consist of buff to medium gray very <br />fine - to fine grained, thin-bedded, silty and shaly sandstone <br />beds alternating with grey to nearly black thin-bedded silty <br />5~..~ <br />and sandy shale beds. <br />_` _ <br />6q0 Revised 5/93 • <br />
