BN ~Fl LOADOUT

2.04.7(1) GROUND WATER INFORMATION
Data from borings for the Interstate 25 bridge over Goddard Avenue
was obtained from the Colorado Department of Highways. These
borings show that the immediate ground surface consists of silty
clay and weathered shale underlain by a hard shale (the Pierre
Shale formation) which outcrops over a large surrounding area.
The boring data is included in this section.
Alluvium material was not detected in the boring or on site.
Loadout site inspection shows that the surface consists of highly
compacted silty shale material that does not readily transmit
water.
Water was detected in one of the three borings; however, the im-
permeable Pierre shale layer is within 25 feet of the surface,
and the surrounding railroad yards and industrial sites make
this an insignificant source. Any groundwater aquifiers below
the Pierre shale should not be affected by the small loadout sites,
as they are not located in the recharge for these aquifiers.

641
