BN 111 LOADOUT

c:

2.04.3 SITE DESCRIPTION AND LAND USE INFORMATION
The proposed railroad loadout consists of 3~ acres situated
approximately 1,000 feet northeast of the C & S and Atcheson,
Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad yards in Trinidad, Colorado. The
tract is owned by the Burlington Northern Railroaa Company and
contains three siding tracks. The site has historically been
used as a railroad storage area and for railcar loading and
unloading. The current land use of this tract would be "commer-
cial or industrial".
Ground water is the only possible renewable resource that exists
on this site. Ground water should be unaffected by the proposed
coal loading facility, as any possible aquifiers are located
stratagraphically below the Pierre shale, an aquiclude which
occurs within a feu feet of the surface in the area of the sub-
ject tract. Further discussion on the possible effects the
loadout may have on groundwater is found in 2.04.'7(1), GROUND
WATER INFORMATION.
639
