i. COAL STORAGE YARD
• Two concrete silos are located on the coal storage yard, each with a
capacity of 4,000 tons. This storage capacity allows rapid loading of the
unit trains. The silos and conveyor will be torn down and buried after the
mine is closed. The cement could be buried in the mine or a pit could be
excavated. Several feet of overburden will be placed over the concrete.
The Denver and Rio Grande spur rail track which runs through the permit
area, is on a railroad owned right of way and may be left for future mines
or whatever purposes the railroad has for it. If the railroad wants it
removed, WSC will reclaim the bed.
ii. WEST PORTAL
There are five concrete entries being rehabilitated at the West
• Portal. These will be used for coal transportation and ventilation. The
entries, diversion ditch above the portals, and trackage will be maintained
during the life of the mine. When the mine is closed, the entries will be
sealed and backfilled (Exhibit 2.05.4-H). The office, storage and bath-
house presently used by the miners will also be removed.
iii. BLEEDER PORTAL
The Bleeder Portal (Appendix XXIV.5) will hold the slurry line for
transporting the coal fines to underground disposal areas. After the areas
are filled, the portal will be sealed and backfilled.
iv EAST PORTAL
There are three concrete entries for coal transport and ventilation.
One of the entries is on the south side of the highway and the others are
2.05-30
