Revision
February 1982
_ on the north side. These portals are maintained constantly for safety.
• They will be sealed and backfilled after use as indicated in Exhibit
2.05.4-H.
The wash plant in the East Mine yard is approximately 70 x 70 feet and
allows a feed rate of 150 tons per hour. Preparation procedures at the
plant assure production of high quality coal from the East Portal. It is a
"water-only" plant with no thermal drying and no air cyclones. Conveyor
belts are partially covered and, when needed, water sprays suppress dust.
Water is provided from the East Beckwith Reservoir, of which WSC controls
75 percent of the water rights. This water is let into Anthracite Creek,
then taken out of the North Fork of the Gunnison minus loss charges. The
wash plant is constructed of steel on a concrete base. Daily maintenance
is performed on the plant, its associated conveyors and slurry lines.
After the mine is closed, the plant, storage, and office buildings will be
disassembled and hauled away.
A new bathhouse, a 300-employee facility, proposed at the East Portal
Yard will meet new federal standards. It will be removed after the mine is
closed.
•
2.05-31`
