A Stormwater Discharge permit will be applied for concurrent with this operation.
(D) Size of the area to be worked at any one time:
Five to 12 acres per year are planned to be mined each year. Overburden and topsoil
from each mining area will be used to prepare the previous area for reclamation.
Excess topsoil will be stockpiled for future use where needed or removed for resale
offsite.
Mining will progress as shown in Exhibit C Mining Plan Map with fifty increments.
(E) An appropriate timetable to describe the mining operation and the relationship
between mining and reclamation:
Reclamation will follow mining as closely as operationally feasible. This will be
comparatively simple since reclamation will consist of filling the excavation with excess
overburden from successive mining areas.
When excavation is completed for a given area, it will be leveled where needed and six
inches of topsoil will be replaced and roughened for erosion control or returned directly to
farming operations, depending on the season.
(i) An estimate of the periods of time which will be required for the various stages
or phases of the operation.
It is planned to mine from five to 12 acres per year. Therefore the life the mine is 25 to 60
years. However, the Arapahoe County Use by Special Review applies only through
December 2020.
CRS 34-321-112(b) (VIII) of the Act states: "A timetable estimating the periods required for
the various stages of the mining operation -the operator shall not be required to meet the
timetable, nor shall the timetable be subject tc independent review by the Board or office".
(ii) A description of the size and location of each area to be worked during each
phase:
As stated earlier, mining will proceed west to east in five to 12 acre increments. When
excavation of one of these incremental areas is completed, the successive area will be
stripped to provide growth medium and overburden for leveling the previous area.
(iii) Outline the sequence in which stage of the operation will be carried out:
It is planned to mine from five to 12 acres per year.
D-2
