~~
EXHIBIT "D"
MINING PLAN
Description of the methods of mining in each stage of operation related to a surface
disturbance:
Mining is proposed to commence in July 2000. Mining will begin in the northwest corner
of the affected area and progress to the east in fifty (50) increments. Each increment
will encompass five (5) to twelve (12) acres.
A 50 foot buffer around the periphery of the permit area will be left unmined. However,
this area may contain haul roads, therefore it will be included as affected area.
Topsoil and sand will be stripped and either used for filling, stockpiled for future use
onsite, or removed for resale offsite.
During the Second World War this site was part of the former "Lowry Bombing and
Gunnery Range." The Applicant has contacted the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in
Omaha, Nebraska. The Corp and its subcontractor UXB are conducting an
investigation and cleanup of the 80 square mile area, including the site. The site is not
classified as an immediate danger area.
If any unexploded ordnance is encountered during mining operations, the Corp will be
notified immediately.
An old sub-machine gun firing range located nearby is not expected to produce hazards
A portable screening plant may be used. If used, it will be setup in the immediate
mining area.
Earthmoving:
Only limited mobile equipment or structures will be used onsite. These include front-
end loaders, scrapers, graders, mobile truck scales, mobile office, haul trucks and light
vehicles.
Water diversion and impoundments:
All water needed will be transported to the site. This includes drinking water for
personnel and water for dust control. Portable toilets will be available.
As this is a dry mining operation, no water for processing is required. No
impoundments or diversions of water are planned.
D-1
