Mr. Larry Oehler
Division of Minerals and Geology
Mazch 11, 1999
Page 2
fly. 3. Backsloping will be done with mining and the pit margins will be maintained at 3:1
throughout mining.
This is not exactly the case. Mining will proceed into [he pit face leaving a wall as is done in most
mining of this kind. When mining has proceeded close enough to the pit perimeter to be the base
of the 3:1 backslope, mining will then change from the vertical face to the 3:1 backslope on the
perimeters. This should not affect bond costs, since a 3:1 slope is still proposed as the end result.
OK 4. Sediment was being carried off site in a natural drainage on the west side of the operation
at the northwest corner.
As reported at the Boazd heazing, the material that was being transported had been removed from
the surface of the proposed pit azea. After this problem was reported, the applicant moved the
material out of the drainage down to the original grass cover, which should prevent any future
sediment removal. Also, a low berm will be placed along the east and west permieters to prevent
runoff problems.
p~-5. Distance to be maintained between any mining activity and the property line fence along
the north side of the permit area.
Mining activity will be no closer than 25' to the north boundary fence. The pit highwall will be
backsloped at 3: 1, starting no further north than the 25' setback. Stability of the fence should not be
threatened in any way.
Exhibit D -Reclamation Plan
0~"' 1. Plan states that the access road might be left. Include the access road in the reclamation
plan unless the owner has a purpose for the road.
The owner wants the road to be left unreclaimed for access to her property in the future. A letter so
stating is attached.
p(~1, 2. Reclamation costs are adequate.
The applicant agrees to provide such a Financial Warranty and Performance Warranty.
