R-13 Phases A, B, C, and D - In consultation with area grass experts, these phases will be seeded with an irrigated seed mix contair~ing appropriate percentages of the following: Orchard Grass 35% Perennial Rye 25% Tall Fescue 10% Smooth Brome 20% Annual Rye 20% The recommended rate of seeding for the above is 20 - 25 Ib~./ acre utilizing the drilled placement method. Phase E will be seeded with a dryland seed mix as follows: Crested Wheatgrass 35% Smooth Brome 35% Russian Wildrye 20% Annual Rye 10% The recommended rate is 12 lbs./acre utilizing the drilled placeament method. The seed types listed above are currently available locally in sufficient quantities to meet the proposed reclamation. Seeding will be done' at appropriate seasonal periods as recommended by area experts. (e) Reclamation Implementation Schedule: (i) It is estimated that reclamation for each twenty-acre section within Phases A, B, C, D, and E will require a period of six ':o nine months following the cessation of mining. This is based on two to three months of overburden and topsoil replacemerr,: earthwork and allowance for seasonal seed placement opportunities. The timing of reclamation of each twenty acre section relative to commencement of mining in a subsequent section is proposed such that the area of new mining does not exceed the area under reclamation. A continual reclamatio i process will accomplish this. That is to say, as an area witt in a mining section is depleted, reclamation efforts will commence concurrently as mining progresses. (ii) As mentioned above, reclamation will progress in sections not to exceed twenty acres within any given phase of operation.
