Variations between days was <br />about to to 2%. The June, 1983 sample was collected three days <br />prior to the annual snowmelt peak. <br />Four water quality samples have been collected on the Colorado <br />River to the date of this submittal. During the first quarterly <br />sample of 1983 (6/22/83), all parameters were analyzed on a total <br />basis. During the second and third quarterly~s of 1983, the metals <br />were analyzed on a dissolved basis. <br />• Overall, water quality is good on the Colorado River. National <br />Drinking Water Standards (EPA) were exceeded only during June, 1983 <br />and only for the constituent of lead. The Standard is 0.05 mg/1 <br />and the observed value on 6/22/83 was 0.067 mg/1. This higher <br />value was associated with the high river flows at that time. <br />Flow from the Colorado River varies from a base discharge of about <br />2000 cfs during much of the interval of September through March of <br />each year. Suspended material is low during this time of the year. <br />Conductivity, an indicator of dissolved material, is generally in <br />the range of 700 to 1,000 umhos/cm. Increased flows commence in <br />April or May with annual peaks in the range of 20,000 cfs typical <br />from the snowmelt that often peaks in mid to late June. Flow <br />declines through July and August until the base discharge is <br />reached. Suspended material is highest during these periods of <br />high flows and the dissolved material concentrations are lowest. <br />Conductivity of the Colorado River during the high flow is often in <br />the range of 200 to 600 umhos/cm.
