~ the site is described as a tract of land situate in Section 19, Township <br />~ 6 North, Range 67 West of the Sixth P.M., Weld County, Colorado. <br />The northern and ~~ern portions of the site lie in the present <br />and ancient flood plains oT the Cache La Poudre River, which meanders <br />through the central portion of the property from the northwest to the <br />southeast. This area is relatively flat and has minor Drainage to the <br />river and then in a southeasterly direction. The flood plain area <br />consists of irrigated pasture land and cultivated farm fields. Numerous <br />large trees line the river bank. Gravel is currently being extracted by <br />Weld County in the northern part of the property, and an existing farm <br />house, garage, and outbuildings are located in the extreme northwest <br />corner of the parcel. The southwestern section of the site consists of <br />a large bluff rising above the flood plain of the stream. The high area <br />slopes gently to moderately toward the river and has positive drainage <br />in a northeasterly direction. The southwest elevated portion of the <br />property consists of pasture land. Several large and small gullies have <br />been eroded into the bluff. An underground AT&T cable traverses the <br />western on-third (1/3) of the southern area of the property. The Eaton <br />Ditch runs through the southeastern section of the site. Sandstone <br />- bedrock outcrops were noted along the eroded areas in the southwest <br />portion of the site. The boundaries of the property are fenced. <br />SOIL AND GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS <br />The soil profile at the site consists of strata of materials ar- <br />ranged in different combinations. In order of increasing depths, they <br />are as follows: <br />(1) Silty Topsoil: The majority of the site is overlain by a one- <br />half (1/2) to one and one-half (1-1/2) foot layer of silty <br />topsoil. This topsoil has been penetrated by root growth and <br />organic matter. A three (3) foot layer of fill material was <br />encountered in Boring 5. This is recent fill, placed in <br />• conjunction with the current gravel operations taking place in <br />_ ~ ;. <br />
