~-
~ Woodland products such as firewood, fenceposts, Christmas trees,
transplants, and pinyon nuts are available on this unit. The use of
tree spades for removal of transplants is severely limited by the nigh
content of rock fragments in the soil and shallow depths to bedrock.
The site index for pinyon-Juniper ~s about 40. Reproduction of pinyon
and juniper is slow and is difficult because of the extensive areas of
Rock outcrop and the very shallow depth of the soils. Some areas are
ar_cessible where trails are developed. Tha terrain ~n many areas is
rugged, however.
This unit is poorly suited to homesite development. The main
limitations are steepness of slope, shallow depth to bedrock, and
rockiness.
This map unit is in capability subclass VIIs, nonirrigated. It is
in the Pinyon-Juniper woodland site.

~.J .l
