RESULTS
Total herbaceous cover at the combined Bear Mine sites 1 and 2 was sampled at
40.1% (see Table 3). Of that amount, perennial, non-noxious plant species contributed
36.4% absolute cover (90.8% of the total vegetative cover). These results are very
similar to those measured last year (see chart below). Annual grasses contributed 0.490
relative cover while annual/biennial forbs contributed 6.6%. Noxious weeds were
intercepted only 0.8% (absolute cover) of the time, slightly below last year's value of
1.5%. Total cover (vegetation + rock + litter) was measured at 79.8%.
Comparison of 1992, 1993 absolute cover values
Cate 1922 1~
Total Cover 80.4% 79.8%
• (= veg. + litter + rock)
Total vegetative cover 39.8% 40.1%
Perennial, non-noxious cover 35.7% 36.4%
Perennial grass cover 27.4% 28.0%
Annual grass cover 0.1% 0.2%
Perennial forb cover 8.3% 8.4%
Annual, biennial forb cover 2.5% 2.7%
Noxious weeds 1.5% 0.8%
Twenty-eight herbaceous species were encountered during cover sampling of
which thirteen were perennial grass species, two were annual grass species, six were
perennial forb species, four were annual/biennial forb species, and three were noxious
weed species.
