• Sediment Pond No. 003
Sediment Pond No. 003 and associated access road will be backfilled,
regraded, topsoiled (topsoil coming from topsoil stockpile), mulched and
seeded. This action will commence as soon as revegetation success is
achieved at Bear No. 2 and approval is received by the Division. Prior
to seeding the reclaimed area, a soil sample will be taken from the
topsoil stockpile and analyzed to determine if a fertilizer will be
required.
Clean-uo of Miscellaneous Gob, Coal Waste and Debris
Clean-up of all gob, coal waste, and debris around the area at Bean No.
1 and No. 2 under the responsibility of Bear Coal Company will be
completed in the fall of 1985.
Seedling Transplants (Willows and Hawthorne)
n
U
Willow seedlings will be planted at the rate of 400 stems/acre on the
portal backfill areas of Bear No. 1 and No. 2. This work will be
completed in the fall of 1985.
Originally, it was agreed by Bear Coal Company to plant willow and
Hawthorne seedlings in the riparian area along the relocated North Fork
of the Gunnison River. This area is now under the reclamation
responsibility of West Elk Coal Company and Bear Coal Company believes
this relieves it of this obligation (Refer to Map 1, Bear No. and No. 2
Reclamation Plan).
Reseeding
Approximately 1.05 acre of Bear No. 1 needs reseeding. This area has
been partially redisturbed and therefore, mulching will also be needed.
• The disturbance was apparently caused by activities of the West Elk Coal
Company.
-4-
