COLORADO DEPARTMENT Of HE~i
Water Quality Control Division
Summary of Rationale Page 2
PERMIT NUMBER: [0-0037656
J
Limitation
25/45
10
6.5-9
Discharge point 001 shall be the outfall from
the sedimentation pond to an unnamed tributary
to Sage Creek, 1/2 mile northeast as shown in
figure 1, page 15. Sage Creek is a tributary
of the Yampa River, about 3/4 mile northeast.
Samples shall be taken at the discharge point.
Within three months of the effective date of this
permit, permittee will be required to install a
flow measuring device, as discussed on page 12.
The permittee has requested an activity permit,
to facilitate changing or adding discharge
points, as discussed on page 13.
Limitations and Rationale:
Parameter
Total Suspended Solids
(mg/1)
Oil b Grease (mg/1)
• ph {s. u.)
Salinity:

Rationale
Best Engineering Judgement
State Effluent Standards
Water Quality Standards
The official precipitation guage station
identified with this facility shall be the
Hayden Station, Index No. 3867, in Routt County.
On March 7, 1976, the Colorado Water Quality Control
Commission adopted the "Regulation for Implementation
of the Colorado River Salinity Standards Through the NPDES
Permit Program." The first step towards complying with
the regulation for this permit will be monitoring for
salinity on a monthly basis for the first six months.
Thereafter, monitoring will be on a quarterly basis.
Analysis for salinity may be either as Total Dissolved
Solids (TDS) or by electrical conductivity where a
satisfactory correlation with TDS has been established.
The correlation should be based on a minimum of five (5)
different samples.
r 1
L_J
