r
SECTION C - MINING AND RECLAMATION PLAN
Mining of the proposed property is proposed to be
accomplished over a thirty-five (35) year period from
nine areas-phases as noted on the Mining Plan. The mining
duration of each phase area will vary from two and one-half
(2-1/2) to five (5) years with Area 9 taking possible five
(5) to eight (8) years to complete, because of its larger
acreage.
It must be emphasized that a concurrent reclamation
is to take place with the ongoing mining activity for each
phase-area.
The first step - Phase One (same procedures apply to
subsequent areas) will be the removal and temporary proper
storage of topsoil, and overburden material. The locations
of sand and gravel plant, the redi-mix plant, office and
shop will be as noted on the Mining Plan and aerial photo.
The sound attenuation characteristics will be continu-
ously improved, by strategic location of stockpiled material,
as noted on the Mining Plan.
The actual gravel extraction process will commence in
Phase One area, with the same process to continue in follow-
ing phases. The method of extraction will be with a
dragline, after the dewatering process utilizing a centri-
fugal pump, has taken place. After the sand and gravel
has been dug from the pit by the dragline, it is then taken
to the crushing and processing plant and delivered to the
customer or stockpiled for future use.
Reclamation, starting with the first phase until final
completion, will be an ongoing process with backfilling and
contouring of the land as part of the mining operation.
Final reclamation of each phase with grassing and tree plant-
ing to take place immediately upon completion of each phase.
For completion revegetation program, see Section G -
Soils and Vegetation.
~,.
G
,.
-3-
