/~l
O
O ,
14 r. Gilbert F. Rindahl -I_- March 21, I~Jil3
3. An examination of the mininy plan map and the reclamation plan map
shows the topsoil beans to lie in an area that will be sloped in
final reclamation. Since reclamation of phases is to be concurrent
with mining, and the topsoil berms are not to be disturbed until the
last phase is reclaimed, please explain this discrepancy between the
maps.
4. Since the plant area and extraction process are to move from east to
west, with reclamation to follow mining, a haul road across the
mined-out phases must be maintained duriny the entire life of the
%'~ mine, presumably to be reclaimed at the end of mining. This haul
-road should be shown on the map.
5. Any sediment control structures (such as beans) needed for protection
~~~. of the drainaye to the west of the mininy area should he shown on the
p ,~
~; map.
~.~-
y;6. Are gravel stockpiles to be maintained in the plant area?
Exhibit U
1. I note that 11-14" of topsoil is to be stripped and stockpiled. Yet
later statements about reclamation mention either 7-y" or 8-12" of
topsoil being replaced. Why uoes this rather larye discrepancy exist?
2. The amount and classification of mining disturbance types is not
clearly defined. Although the plan to move in stages from west to
east is clear, the maxi~nu~n amount of each type of disturbance (major,
moderate and minor) is not defined. This makes the reclamation costs
(in Exhibit L) difficult to justify. Please provide more detail in
this matter.
3. Presumably, the material to be mined is weathered enouyh to not
require blastiny fur removal. Please clarify this matter and detail
y, tl~e type of equipment to be used in the extraction of the weathered
sandstone.
4. What will be the working face slope of the active excavation?
5. Will the 25' sandstone layer be mined in one u~t, or will terracing
' be used during the mining operation?
~~~~~ 6. What material underlies the material to be mined?
\7. Is the trianyular area to the southeast of Vollmer Road to be used in
' the mininy operation?
8. Will all access to the pit be via tl+e haul road to 131ack Forest Road,
'` or will there be an access to Vollmer Road, as well?
