The descrip- <br />tion shall include information on the characteristics of all surface and <br />• ground waters within the general area, and any water which will flow <br />into or receive discharges of water from the general area. The descrip- <br />tion shall be prepared according to Section 779.13-779.17 and conform to <br />the following: <br />This application provides a detailed description of geology, hy- <br />drology and ground and surface water quality and quantity of all <br />lands within the proposed "permit area", "mine plan area", "ad~a- <br />cent area" and "general area", as these terms are defined in 30 CFR <br />701.5 and 770.5, as well as the geographically and hydrologically <br />separate "tipple area". <br />The "general area", for purposes of this application and with re- <br />spect to hydrology, consists of a watershed containing ane segment <br />of a perennial stream, the Canadian River. Specifically, that <br />portion of the Canadian River between two USGS stream gaging and <br />• sampling stations, one located upstream and the other located <br />779-7 <br />
