eh <br />ESPEY, HUSTON & ASSOCIATES, INC. <br /> <br />Series Established: The series was established in Fremont County, <br />Lander Area, Wyoming in 1975. <br />3.1.15 Stzaw Series <br />The Straw series consists of deep soils that formed in calcareous loamy <br />alluvium from mixed rock sources. <br />Taxonomic Class: The Straw soils are fine-loamy, mixed Cumulic <br />Haploborolls. <br />Typical Pedon: Straw soils consist of loam in cultivated azeas, with level <br />to moderate slopes. (Colors aze for dry soil unless otherwise noted.) <br />Ap 0 to 10 inches; grayish brown (10YR5/2) loam, very dark grayish <br />brown (10YR3/2) moist; moderate fine crumb structure; slightly <br />hazd, very friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; many fine <br />and few medium roots; many fine and medium pores; slightly <br />effervescent; mildly alkaline (pH 7.6); clear wavy boundary. (4 to 8 <br />inches thick) <br />A12 10 to 27 inches; grayish brown (10YR5/Z) loam, very dazk grayish <br />brown (10YR3/Z) moist; weak coarse prismatic structure; slightly <br />hazd, very friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; common fine <br />and very fine roots; many fine and very fine pores; strongly <br />effervescent; moderately alkaline (pH 8.0); diffuse boundary. (16 <br />to 26 inches thick) <br />C1 27 to 38 inches; grayish brown (10YR5/Z) loam, dark grayish brown <br />(10YR4/2) moist; massive; hazd, very friable, slightly sticky and <br />slightly plastic; few fine and very fine roots; many fine and very <br />• <br />I-40 <br />
