eh ESPEY, HUSTON & ASSOCIATES, INC. <br />C~ <br />The A horizon has hue of 5Y through 7.5YR, value of 3 through 5 dry, 2 <br />or 3 moist and chroma of 1 through 3. The All or Ap horizons usually <br />have loam texture, but include silty clay loam and clay loam. The upper <br />pazt of the A horizon has granulaz structure that grades to massive or to <br />weak coazse prismatic structure that pazts to fine or medium subangulaz <br />blocks in the lower pazt. The C horizon has hue of 4Y through 7.5YR. It <br />is loam or clay loam. <br />Competing Series: These aze the Arnegazd, Falkirk, Gazza, Roseglen, <br />and Stukey series. Arnegard, Falkirk and Roseglen soils have Iambic <br />horizons and have continuous horizons of visible calcium cazbonate <br />accumulations. Garza soils aze uniformly calcareous at depths of 0 to 10 <br />inches. Stukey soils are not clearly differentiated. <br />Geographic Setting: Shawn soils aze on fans, terraces and footslopes. At <br />• the type Location the average annual precipitation is about 15 inches. <br />The mean annual air temperature is about 41°F, and the mean summer <br />air temperature is about 62°F. The frost-free season is about 95 to 115 <br />days. <br />Associated Soils: These are the Empedrado and Jodero soils. Empedrado <br />soils have an azgillic horizon. Jodero soils have an irregulaz decrease in <br />organic cazbon. <br />Drainage and Permeability: These soils aze well to moderately well <br />drained with slow to rapid runoff and moderate permeability. <br />Use and Vegetation: These soils aze used for rangeland or native hay <br />meadows and for irrigated crops. Native plants are dominantly western <br />wheatgrass, needle-and-thread grass, cactus and sagebrush. <br />• <br />I-37 <br />
