eh ESPEY, HUSTON & ASSOCIATES, INC. <br />• <br />Taxonomic Class: The Owen Creek Series is a member of the fine, <br />montmorillonitic family of Asgic Cryoborolls. <br />Typifying Pedon: Owen Creek soils consist of silt loam in <br />grassland. (Colors aze for dry soil unless otherwise noted.) <br />Al 0 to 6 inches; very dazk grayish brown (10YR3/2) silt loam, very <br />dark brown (IOYR2/2) moist; strong fine crumb and granulaz <br />structure; soft, very friable; many roots; neutral (pH 6.6); gradual <br />smooth boundary. (4 to 8 inches thick) <br />Bl 6 to 10 inches; dazk grayish brown (10YR4/2) light clay loam, very <br />dark grayish brown (10YR3/2) moist; moderate fine subangulaz <br />blocky structure that parts to medium granules; slightly hard, very <br />• friable; many roots; some wax-like fillings on the inside of root <br />channels; neutral (pH 6.6); gradual smooth boundary. (3 to 5 inches <br />thick) <br />B21t 10 to 14 inches; brown (10YR5/3) heavy silty clay loam, dark brown <br />(10YR3/3) moist; strong fine subangulaz blocky structure; slightly <br />hazd and very hard, very friable; thin nearly continuous wax-like <br />coatings on faces of peds; wax-like fillings in root channels and soil <br />pores; neutral (pH 6.8); cleaz smooth boundary. (0 to 8 inches <br />thick) <br />B22t 14 to 24 inches; yellowish brown (10YR5/4) light silty clay, dazk <br />yellowish brown (10YR4/4) moist; strong medium angulaz blocky <br />structure; hazd and extremely hard, friable; thin continuous <br />wax-like coatings on faces of peds; wax-like coatings in root <br />• <br />I-24 <br />
