Section 77g,2p (c) Continued.
• Benthic macroinvertebrates were sampled at each location using a
Surber bottom sampler. Relative abundance of rubble, gravel, sand,
silt and clay were also recorded.
During July of 1979, the percent cover of aquatic macrophytes on
the lower Foidel Creek site and the lower Fish Creek site were
determined and mapped. The two sites are designated on the Twenty-
mile Mammalian Observation (Map 17).
Fish. According to the Fisheries Inventory conducted by the CDOW
(1972), Fish Creek and Middle Creek are classified as fair and poor
respectively for cold water fisheries potential. Species present
in Fish Creek and Middle Creek. were reported to be 50 percent brook
trout and 50 percent cutthroat trout. The sampling sites and dates
are not available.
On August 5th and 6th, 1975, fish were qualitatively sampled at the
• seven locations found in the Twentymile Park Mammalian Observations
(Map 17), utilizing a Smith-Root Type VII backpack electrofisher.
Approximately 50 meters of stream were sampled at each of the upper
and middle stations on Fish Creek and the two stations on Middle
Creek. Insufficient water was available to operate the electrofisher
on Foidel Creek so a dip net was employed to capture fish at these
sites. Fish captured were counted, measured, and identified by
species.
Samples for aquatic mac roinvertebrates were collected on July 5,
1979 from four of the stations sampled in 1975 using a one square
foot Surber sampler and a pole mounted Ekman dredge. The location
of each station is shown on the Twentymile Park Mammalian Observations
(Map 17). With the exception of upper Foidel Creek and the adjacent
reservoir (Reservoir No. 1), two Surber samples and two Ekman
dredge samples were collected at each of the remaining three 1975
stations.
•
779-144
