<br />Eastside Coal Company will continue to monitor these areas for <br />revegetation success and proper drainage to ensure erosional <br />problems do not arise. Eastside Coal Company will continue to <br />implement best management practices to prevent and reduce <br />pollution to the waters of the State of Colorado. <br />H. Post-mining Phase. <br />Once the Eastside Mine enters post-mining phase, Eastside Coal <br />Company will amend the SWMP to include specific procedures to <br />minimize erosion and other factors that contribute to the <br />discharge of total suspended solids and other pollutants from <br />newly reclaimed areas. The amendments will be submitted to <br />Colorado Department of Health Water Quality Control Division, <br />Colorado Department of Natural Resources Division of Minerals <br />and Geology and Environmental Protection Agency for approval <br />and to request the change from active mining to post-active <br />mining status. <br />Pre-mining. <br />;:~ Mining has occurred at the Eastside Mine since 1976. Eastside <br />Coal Company acquired Eastside Mine in 1983 and applied for <br />the required permits at that time. Pre-mining amendments are <br />not applicable to the Eastside Mine SWMP. <br />K. Materials Containment. <br />History of Spills <br />No spills have occurred during the last three years at <br />the Eastside Mine. <br />ii. Description of Reporting System <br />In the event an incident which involves a leak or spill <br />which flows into a stream (i.e. Harvey Gap Drainage), the <br />event will be immediately reported to the General Manager <br />who will then designate a supervisor to contact the <br />National Response Center, the Environmental Protection <br />Agency, Region VIII, the Colorado Department of Health <br />Water Quality Control Division, Environmental Protection <br />Agency, Colorado Division of Wildlife, and Garfield <br />County Emergency Response Coordina*_or.
