RECLAMATION FUNCTION DESCRIPTIONS
EQUIPMENT REMOVAL AND SALVAGE
Because of the nature of the operation, most of the equipment to be used
will either be modular or semi-portable (skid mounted). Equipment
removal and salvage will involve some disassembly of equipment into
modular components and use of a hydraulic crane to load the components
onto a tractor-trailer truck for removal from the site. Most of the
equipment components would have some residual salvage value which would
offset disassembly and transportation costs. However, for purposes of
the reclamation cost estimate, no salvage value was included in the cost
calculations.
STRUCTURE REMOVAL AND SALVAGE OR DEMOLITION
The majority of the mine facilities will consist of portable trailer
. type or modular buildings. The only permanent structure proposed will
be the pre-fabricated steel shop building. Structure removal and
salvage or demolition will involve removal from the site of all portable
buildings, partial disassembly of modular or pre-fabricated structures,
use of a hydraulic crane and tractor-trailer to remove structural
components from the site, and demolition and removal of all concrete
foundation structures. Since the only structures which will have
concrete foundations will be the shop building and the truck scale, the
volume of concrete rubble will be limited and it is anticipated that
this material can be placed at the base of the fill in the portal
face-up area.
SEALING AND BACKFILLING MINE PORTALS
It is anticipated that the Coal Gulch Mine will have three (3) main
entries including the main production portal and the ventilation intake
and return. Each of these entries will be sealed with a reinforced
. concrete wall keyed into the entry around its perimeter for stability.
The concrete seals will be designed to stabilize the entries near the
-4-
