history of the Seneca II Mine.
I ~ Technical Revision No. I - Change in Wadge Mining Plan - April 1982
This revision requested permission to change the mining plan in the
Wadge area. The overall direction of mining (pit orientation) was
virtually unchanged. Only the pit sequencing and associated roads were
changed. The reclamation timetable was also revised to reflect the new
mining plan. This revision did not affect mining in the Wolf Creek
area.
In brief, this revision requested that the location of the box cut in
the Wadge area be moved from the western edge of the Wadge area to a low
overburden area more centrally located within the coal field (an area
originally planned for mining in 1995). This change eliminated the
short box cut, thus leaving an area temporarily reclaimed for nine
years. The decision was also made to leave one of the draglines in this
area until completion of mining.
Technical Revision No. 2 - Haul Road F and Breaching of Haul Road Berms
• This
Wolf revision requested permission to
Creek area. The road was to be construct a new haul road in the
used mainly as a haulage road out
from the lower end of the Wol£ Creek area. This road eliminated the
need for the haul trucks to back track down the hill.
Berms are required by MSHA regulations for haul truck safety. PCC
requested that these berms be breached every so often to allow drainage
of water off the haul road. In most cases, these breaches were confined
to areas not yet reclaimed, or were directed into concentrated runoff
drainages. All road drainage waters pass through either Sediment Ponds
002, 003, or 004.
Technical Revision No. 3 - Auger Mining
In order to maximize coal recovery in areas where recovery lines were
being reached, PCC requested permission to auger mine three highwall
areas: Pits A, B, and C. Pit A (Lennox coal) was to be mined in
conjunction with reclamation operations; for economic reasons this never
came about. Auger mining of the Wadge coal was conducted in Pits B and
C.

TR-37 3 Revised 04/05
