The south ditch will Handle 4ti.y cis (maxi;num design flox). The nortn
ditch will handle 5j.2 cfs (maximum design floxj. Table 1, Appendix 3,
cocctains design calculations for these ditches. Ditches xill oe cut to
oedrock or rip-rapped on steep portions suoject to erosion. liFC will
provide the Division with as built draxings and specifications after
construction.
Pond UU4A xill not receive any additional drainage as a result of pile
construction. As such, Pond UU4A will not have to be modified.
The stability analyses is provided in r;xhibit S. The staoility
analyses indicate factors of safaty above the minimum criteria set forth by
tcie Division.
CUY~H PL4T~;RIAL FOR WASTE PILH
WFC proposes to reclaim the pila with 4 ft of cover. This will include
• topsoil and subsoil obtained from Areas 1 through 4 as suoxn on r'igure 1.
WFC plans to cut up to a.d ft in Areas 1 and 4.
Cover suitability xill be determined by sampling to a depth of d ft in
Areas 1 and 4. Three samples will be taken to a depth of d ft. Approximate
sample locations are shown on Figure 1. Composite samples will oe taken at
2 ft intervals. The intervals will be U-2 ft, 2-4 ft, 4-o Yt and o-d ft.
Samples will be analyzed for pH, ~;c, SAlt, texture and percent cock fragments
(percent rocK fragments will be estimated in the fieldj.
Area 4 will not be sampled until the present pile is moved. Area 1
will be sampled the weeK of July 1}, 19d7. wFC expects the turn-around ti!¢e
for lab results will be 4-6 weeks. 'dr'C requests the pile expansion begin
prior to receiving final lab results.
-5-
