2-34 <br />• 2.4.4.2 Groundwater Impact <br />Hydrogeologic investigations conducted on the proposed refuse <br />disposal site indicate that alluvial sediments do exist in the <br />valley and are comprised mostly of silty clays of low permeability <br />(see Section 4.1.3.3.2). Presence of groundwater was indicated <br />only in the upper part of the valley floor (see Figure 4.2-2s). <br />The proposed refuse disposal site will be constructed in a way <br />that minimizes any potential for detrimental contamination of <br />groundwater. Due to provisions for surface water drainage, low <br />permeability of underlying strata, and the limited presence of <br />groundwater, the impact of the proposed refuse disposal activity <br />• on groundwater is minimal.
