3.0 Potential Pollutant Sou~/Material Inventor;
Potential chemical pollutants expected to be stored on-site include temporary fuel tanks for
equipment and generators, and small amounts of miscellaneous vehicle fluids for daily
maintenance. No overhaul equipment maintenance will be performed on-site and no permanent
fuel tanks will be located at the site. No waste fuel or oil will be stored at this site.
Equipment and heavy machinery used for the extraction and hauling of the aggregate will be
stored on site, probably neaz the office. This equipment could include, but not be limited to, a
front-end loader, scraper, dozer, and two or more haul trucks. Employees will also have personal
vehicles on site.
Stockpiles of topsoil and overburden will be stored on the site in various locations to
accommodate the mining activities. These stockpiles will have the potential for releasing
sediments to the site.
Ilaul routes within the site will be gravel, and will have the potential for releasing sediment to
any stormwaters.
No spills of significant quantities of any substance aze known to exist at this site.
Good housekeeping practices will be used with equipment and materials at the site to prevent
safety hazazds and accidents and to avoid unnecessary environmental impacts.
4 0 Best Management PracticesL jBMPs) for Stormwater Pollution Prevention
4.1 SWMP Administrator
Scott Smith of Pathfinder Development, Inc., will be the SWMP Administrator. The site
manager for the contracted mining company will be responsible for handling the day to day
management of the SWMP at the site. The SWMP Administrator or the site manager may
appoint other personnel to assist them as needed.
4.2 Materials Handling and Spill Prevention
Temporary fuel tanks for the equipment and generators will be located out of direct traffic routes.
They will be surrounded by earthen berths of sufficient size to contain the contents of a full tank
should a leak or spill occur. The storage azea for the tanks will be lined, as these soils aze very
porous. Fueling of equipment will be monitored at all times to help prevent accidental overfills
or spills.
Miscellaneous vehicle fluids for daily maintenance will be stored inside the office building, or
other enclosed structure. Daily vehicle maintenance will occur at the pazking/storage location,
which will be adjacent to the office building. Employee vehicles will also be pazked at an azea
adjacent to the office building. All vehicles will be monitored for leaks or spills. Any indication
of such will be promptly investigated and controlled.
No chemicals will be used for the processing operations.
