STO~ATER MANAGEIVIENT~AN
PROJECT:
LOCATION:
RECEIVING WATERS:
CONTACT PERSON:
1.0 Site Description
Pathfinder Pit
SE 1/4 of SW 1/4 of Section 32, Township 42 North, Range 9
West, San Miguel County, Colorado
Lake Fork of the San Miguel River
Scott Smith
President/Owner
Pathfinder Development Inc.
P.O. Box 797
Telluride, Colorado 81435
(303)728-3403
This site is undeveloped forest which will be used for aggregate extraction, and eventually for
developed homesites. State Highway 14S borders the property on the east. An abandoned
railroad grade, minus the tracks and ties, runs along the western border and is part of the site
access road. Drainage at the site is generally from east to west. There is an existing wetland
feature in the northeast comer of the site.
2.0 Description of Operation
This operation will be an aggregate extraction operation using dry mining techniques not
requiring dewatering of the site. Aggregate extraction will occur from the southwest to the
northeast. Portable screens and crashing equipment may be brought on-site to produce aggregate
for concrete, however, very little crushing will generally occur on-site.
A haul road will be constructed through the site and will remain after mining activities to allow
access to the proposed homesites. A portable office will at some point be set up in the southwest
comer of the site.
This site is not located in the floodway nor the floodplain of the Lake Fork of the San Miguel
River. No problems associated with sediment transport through the floodplain aze expected to
occur. Flood elevations in this azea aze not expected to be impacted by this operation.
Equipment used for the extraction and hauling of the aggregate will be stored on-site. Overhaul
equipment maintenance will not occur on site, however, daily maintenance may occur on-site.
