Mr. Steve Shuey
Division of Minerals & Geology
Durango Field Office
May 18, 1995
Page 3
RECLAMATION PLAN
The Exhibit F Map has been revised to reflect the slope topography of approximately 2.SH:1 V
final grades.
Based on Rule 3.1.5 (1), (3), and (7) the following information is provided. Grading at the site
will create slopes that are compatible with the surrounding topography and consistent with other
areas where mountain home sites aze located. The homes or structures will not be set into the
2.SH:1 V slopes, but rather placed in the areas of flatter topography such as neaz the location of
the existing access road. All grading at the site shall be done in such a manner as to control
erosion and siltation of the affected lands and to protect areas outside the affected land from
slides and other damage. Elements of the SWMP address the issue of erosion and siltation. The
maximum slopes and slope combinations are compatible with the proposed post-mining use of
mountain home sites, and aze similar to the configuration of the surrounding conditions. No lake
or pond is proposed as part of the reclamation plan.
Prior to disturbing the site, the operator will sample the area to document that enough topsoil is
available to allow replacement of the proposed minimum six inch depth on the areas to be
reclaimed. The applicant understands the Division must be satisfied by the fmal reclamation of
the site prior to releasing the applicants fmancial bonding. The applicant will be making the
needed effort to assure the final reclamation is acceptable.
The applicant will commit to testing the stockpiled topsoil for needed plant growth nutrients if
the stockpiles are in place longer than one year. The local SCS office will be contacted for their
recommendations of nutrient levels and ways to make up deficits, if any.
The applicant will commit to roughening the surface of the area to be reclaimed before
replacement of any growth medium to ensure a good bond between the mined surface and the
growth medium.
Shrub and tree seed will be added to the proposed seed mix. The applicant will plant shrub and
tree seedlings and older plant material throughout areas of the site.
For the reclamation efforts at this site, the applicant will follow the recommendations of the local
SCS office. The soil will be conditioned by discing or harrowing prior to seeding. Clean straw
at a rate of 4000 Ibs per acre will be used for mulch materials. Specific types and application
rates of fertilizer cannot be stated until testing of the topsoil has been accomplished. Test results
now may not produce the same requirements as test results when the topsoil has been spread over
the site at a later date.
