• ~ ~
Once Phase 1 area has been mined out, the topsoil and subsoil from the Phase 2 area wtll'be-strip
and used to reclaim the Phase 1 area. The Phase 2 mining area is approximately equal to the mining
area of Phase 1 (3.2 acres) although a buffer of 12.5 feet radius will be left around the two single
phase power poles which are present in the Phase 2 mining area. These poles are owned by San
Isabel Electric, whose engineer made a recent site visit to the property and advised Mr. Menegatti
that the required buffer would be 12.5 feet radius and a 1.OH:1.OV sideslope down to the pi[ bottom
of 12 feet. Exhibit G of this application contains the written material from the power company re-
garding this easement.
The mining of Phase 2 will require 3.3 years to mine the reserve of approximately 100,000 tons. No
mining will be conducted at night and the majority of [he material will be mined, crushed and sold
in the summer months. There will be no fence around the operation, since it is in a remote location.
No problems are expected with vandalism.
II is extremely unlikely that any toxic or acid-producing materials will be encountered during [he
mining operation since the total depth of excavation (11~ is so shallow. However, in the event that
such materials are encountered, they will be covered with subsoil and topsoil from the stockpiles to
the same depths outlined in the reclamation plan and no more mining will occur in this area.
The operator commits to clearly marking the boundary between Phases 1 and 2 and to not strip top-
soil or subsoil from Phase 2 for stockpiling. Any material stripped from Phase 2 will go directly to
reclaiming Phase 1.
2. Mine Facilities
There will be no permanent mine facilities on site. There will be no office of any kind, no lighting,
no fuel storage and no truck scale. A Cat D-8 or other similar dozer will be used [o strip topsoil and
subsoil and a Cat 988 loader will be used to mine the material. The loader will load directly into a
portable crosher mounted on a robber tired trailer which consists of a hopper, crusher and stacker. A
small stockpile of no greater than 5000 tons will exist below [he stacker.lt is expected that the
crusher will be set at 1.5 inches so that the entire product from the site will be less than 1.5 inches in
size and will be primarily used for roadbase although other uses are possible.
