• 1 ~~
throughput of the operation is 180 tons per hour. The same loader will be used to loa cks
the stockpile. All fuel will be brought in from outside track.
The site will use all existing roads to haul the product to its final destination. It is planned that the
material will be used to re-surface existing roads and provide new road base for any new roads
within an economic distance to the site.
No water will be available on site therefore, the crushing and stacking will be done on a dry basis.
the low annual production prevents the site from being a large dust producer.
3. Water Information, Rights and Augmentation
Since the mine will not encounter any water in the mining operation, there will be no need for water
rights or augmentation for this operation.
4. Drainage Facilities
The overall design of the sediment control system is to contain the runoff from all disturbed areas
for the 100 year - 24 hour storm. This will be done by two collection ditches which will convey all
runoff from the disturbed area to the sediment sump as shown on Map Exhibit E-1. A 1.5' high berm
will be used on the west side of the permit area to prevent undisturbed water from entering the site.
The slopes of this berm will be 2H:1 V. It will be a milder grade where the existing access road
crosses the berm to facilitate [ruck traffic.
The poor, thin soil and lack of appreciable clay in the gravel make the material very porous. This
combined with poor vegetation make for relatively low hydrologic curve numbers. It is expected
that the undisturbed land has a curve number of 78 while the disturbed areas have a curve number of
80.
The total disturbed area for the operation is 7.25 acres. The 100 year 24 hour rainfall for the area is
4.2 inches. Assuming that the average curve number for the disturbed area is 79, the runoff is 2.13
inches x 7.25 acres = 1.282 acre-feet. The sediment pond is 0.16 acres in surface area therefore, the
Ferrero Pit 2/00 18
