Albert <br />Department of Conservation Walsenburg, CO 81089 <br />Agriculture Service (719)-738-1171 <br />02/10/00 <br />4) Seeding Mixture: See attached CO-ECS-S Grass Seeding <br />Planned <br />5) Fertilization: Apply a starter fertilizer at a rate of <br />40 pounds of available nitrogen per acre (harrow into <br />the soil) during the last operation of seedbed <br />preparation if soil tests note any nitrogen deficiency. <br />6) Mulching: A weed free mulch such as grass or straw hay <br />shall be applied to side slopes. Apply 4000 pounds of <br />mulch per acre. If possible anchor by crimping to a <br />depth of 4 inches. <br />7) Post Emergent Weed Control: Competitive weeds need to <br />be controlled when grass seedlings have reached the 3- <br />4-leaf stage. Mowing or chemical applications are <br />effective means to control weeds after grass seeding. <br />Follow all label recommendations for handling and <br />application of herbicides. Chemical weed control <br />should not be used if fortis are included in the seed <br />mixture. <br />C.
