• Measurement of field parameters (temperature, specific conductance and pH)
will be taken using standard instrumentation which will be periodically
calibrated to ensure accuracy. Water quality samples will be preserved
according to accepted procedures and samples will be delivered to the
laboratory within the accepted holding times.
Ground Water Monitoring
Ground water monitoring will be conducted to detect the effects of mining on
ground water quality and quantity. Ground water will be monitored in the
mine plan and adjacent areas with the bedrock, alluvial, and spoil wells
listed in Table A, Hydrologic Monitoring Sites and as shown on Map 4b,
Hydrologic Monitoring Program. The completion summaries for the specified
wells are presented in Table C, Monitoring Well Completion Data.
Bedrock wells will be monitored semiannually for water level, field
parameters, and full suite analysis.
• The Foidel Creek alluvial well 008-AV-2 will be monitored monthly for water
level and field parameters while a full suite analysis will be conducted
quarterly. Alluvial Well 008-AV-1 will continue to be monitored monthly
for water level and field parameters only. For the spoil wells 008-SP-4a
and 008-SP-Sa, field parameters and water level will be measured quarterly
and a full suite analysis will be conducted semiannually. Table B,
Hydrologic Monitoring Parameter List, describes the constituents to be
analyzed for the respective sites.
When water levels are obtained from the Foidel Creek alluvium wells, the
water level of the stream will also be determined using b staff gauge. The
staff gauge was surveyed following installation to ensure an accurate
assessment of the stream elevation. During the late fall and winter months,
snow and ice buildup on the stream or measuring devise preclude an accurate
assessment of the stream elevation. For this reason, stream water levels
are generally obtained from late March/early April through September.-
• MR 90-10 Ex. 15-2 Revised 05/03/90
