h) Sediment retention dams will be constructed of metal bin and rock dam
material based on the specifications of figure 1. Sediment retention dams
will be constructed on a schedule such that at least two dams will be
completed before the first mine waste embankment is started and two
additional dams will be added prior to the completion of the first
embankment. A total of four more dams will be constructed during the
development of a second mine waste embankment.
i) As it becomes necessary due to the demands of R/W rehabilitation, additional
topsoil will be obtained from off site sources.
j) Reclamation efforts in all areas will be monitored by BIM to determine their
adequacy in terms of both plant density and species composition. If wild-
life activity should prove to be an undue hindrance to revegetation, fencing
or other appropriate measures will be required until vegetation becomes es-
tablished.
k) The grantee shall, following construction, reseed all disturbed areas by
drill or other appropriate means. In the event seeding is not successful on
• the first trial, the grantee shall make a second attempt. The grantee shall
advise the District Manager when seeding is to be started and completed.
Seeding shall not extend beyond November 15 nor begin before March 15.
Seed, which must be of a quality and germination rate approved by the Dis-
trict Manager, will be sown at the rate of 10 lbs. per acre drilled or 18
lbs. broadcast or other appropriate means and consist of:
Western Wheatgrass 3 lbs/acre 5 lbs/acre
Fairway Wheatgrass 1 lbs/acre 2 lbs/acre
Creen Needle Grass 2 lbs/acre 4 lbs/acre
Yellow Sweet Clover 1 lbs/acre 2 lbs/acre
Bitter Brush 3 1'bs/acre 5 lbs/acre
•
