c) The grantee shall use reasonable care in construction of all rightsof-way to <br />avoid any unnecessary disturbance of soil or vegetation within or outside <br />• the limits of the rights-of-way. <br />d) Diversion channel construction will incorporate current roadbeds whenever <br />possible; when not, upslope roadbeds, not intended as permanent facilities, <br />will be revegetated. Unused subsoil materials will not be sidecast, but <br />will be removed for an appropriate use off site. All watersheds receiving <br />runoff from the diversion channel will be riprapped where and as directed by <br />an authorized BiM officer. <br />e) During construction and lnstallation of [he water pipeline and powerline ex- <br />isting topsoil will be restored to the surface when the trench is backfill- <br />ed. In previously undisturbed areas (i.e., not on exploration roads), vege- <br />tation clearing will be limited to the width of the trench plus small adja- <br />cent openings for stockpiling soil. Whenever possible, machinery traffic <br />will ride over existing vegetation to minimize root damage. <br />f) Watet bars will be constructed along the pipeline/powerline route as fol- <br />• lows: <br />GRADE <br />DISTANCE BETWEEN WATER BARS <br />0- 4% 1,000 feet <br />4- SY. 500 feet <br />8-10% 200 feet <br />10-15% 100 feet <br />On grades in excess of 15% water bars should be constructed at intervals of <br />100 feet or less. <br />g) The grantee shall construct additional erosion control structures, as re- <br />quired, in disturbed areas as designated by the authorized BLM officer. <br />r~ <br />L J <br />
