-4-
b. The intent is for the diversion to function in final reclamation
to protect the lake from flood inflows from the arroyo. As stated in
a., the abandoned Booth Canal will be reconstructed to adequate capacity
to handle projected runoff. The two bends will be in the 45 to 60
degree range to lessen the chance of breakthrough. The two bends will
be riprapped on the south side of the bends for additional protection.
Again, this change won't be made until approximately the year 2,000.
c. The diversion will remain in final reclamation and will be
adequate to handle maximum flood conditions from the arroyo. Valco
does not want the silt and trash normally carried by an arroyo coming into
the lake and interfering with the intended use.
d. If more hydrologic information is required, please allow the
applicant 6 months to develop this information.
e. Diversion structures are included in the permit area with the
additional acreage provided at the beginning of this letter.
2. There is no drainage on the western boundary of the permit area,
but there is a drainage several hundred feet west on the property that
is being purchased. As stated earlier, when this permit area is mined,
an amendment will be filed adding the acquired acreage, and mining will
then proceed west.
Exhibit J - Vegetation Information
plan.
Valco will agree to abide by the details of the SCS revegetation
Exhibit L - Reclamation Costs
The costs proposed take in the fact that the lake surface does
not have to be reclaimed. For instance, the 110 permit area has
approximately 4.75 A of shoreline to reclaim and the same area (4.75A)
is proposed for the new 112 area - a total of 9.5 A of major disturbance.
The 4A Moderate Disturbance proposed originally will remain the same.
lA will be added to the Minor Disturbance for the setback area disturbed
to allow riprapping. I have also corrected the mathematical error
on fertilizer costs.
