• Mr. Gregg Squire -6- January 7, 1985 <br />ISmo = 2w X 100 <br />Where w = Sum of the lesser values in common between Area A <br />and Area B <br />a = Sum of values for area a (prior to mining) <br />b = Sum of values for area b (area tested during <br />reclamation success study) <br />The life forms to be used for the calculations are: <br />perennial, <br />perennial, <br />annual and <br />annual and <br />• perennial <br />cool season grass <br />warm season grass <br />biennial grass <br />biennial forb <br />forb <br />The diversity of revegetated area will be considered successful if: <br />o there are at least as many species on the revegetated area <br />that contribute 5A or more of the total herbaceous cover, <br />productivity, or frequency as there are in the undisturbed <br />vegetation; and, <br />o if all herbaceous life forms listed for the Motyka Index <br />are present on undisturbed vegetation also occur on the <br />revegetated area; and, <br />o if at least as many woody species on the revegetated <br />contribute 5% or more of the total woody plant density as <br />contributed 5A or more of the total woody plant density on <br />the premining vegetation. <br />In addition to the data discussions to be provided as outlined above, <br />other pertinent information such as expected successional trends, dispersion <br />of volunteer and invading species, reproduction and establishment of new <br />• <br />
