IV. External Personnel Dosi_metx-y
1. Policy
Exposures to ionizing radiation will be limited to
levels as far below regulatory limits as may be
reasonable. This policy will be implemented through
a comprehensive personnel monitoring program.
2. Program
Penetrating and nonpenetrating radiation exposure
rates are expected to be very Iow due to the dilute
nature of all process materials. None-the-less,
personnel monitoring will be provided for all routine
facility employees. This program will be divided
into two phases:
2.1 Routine Monitoring
Thermoluminescent Dosimeters (TLD - see technical
specifications in Table - 3) will be worn at all
times the individual is within the confines of
the restricted area. When not in use, TLD
badges will be stored on a "badge rack",
located in the change room. At least two con-
trol badges will be maintained on the badge
rack to determine background radiation levels.
All personnel and control TLD badges will be
exchanged for unexposed badges and forwarded
to the vendor each calendar quarter. Net dose(s)
will be computed for any personnel badge result
exceeding 25% of the applicable limit by sub-
tracting the dose received by the personnel
badge while stored on the badge rack.
10
