No structures were proposed. <br />Approximately 40 trees (50% dead) would be removed from the project azea along the temporary access road <br />and at the dig site, removing trees only when necessary for the operation. The operator would place the cut <br />trees across the slope for erasion control, burying the stumps. <br />Maconite No. 5-7 <br />Maconite No. 5, 6, and 7 mining proposal is located in Teller County approximately six miles north of Lake <br />George, in Section 3 of Township 12 South, Range 71 West, ti`s P. M. The proposed duration of this mining <br />operation would be from May to November of 2007 and could be authorized for one yeaz through Forest <br />Service approval of a plan of operations. <br />This proposal would be to use a small back hoe and hand tools to open two dig sites totaling 3,200 square <br />feet for the-purpose of prospecting and exploring for locatable minerals. The workforce would consist of a <br />maximum of three workers on site two days a week during the operating season. Mechanized equipment use <br />would be limited to 30 days during the operating season. No camping was proposed. Existing NFS roads <br />would be used to access the project azea. No structures were proposed. Approximately four trees would be <br />removed from the project azea at the dig site, removing trees only when necessary for the operation. The <br />operator would place the cut trees across the slope for erosion control, burying the stumps. <br />Fat Chance <br />Fat Chance mining proposal is located in Pazk County approximately one mile north of Lake George, CO in <br />Section 20 of Township 12 South, Range 71 West, 6`" P.M. This mining operation would be yeaz-round <br />beginning in the March of 2007 and extending for one yeaz through Forest Service approval of a plan of <br />operations. <br />This proposal would be to use a small mechanized jack hammer and hand tools to continue to open three dig <br />sites totaling 1,709 squaze feet for the purpose of prospecting and exploring for locatable minerals. The <br />workforce would consist of approximately three workers on site intermittently throughout the operating <br />season. No camping was proposed. Existing NFS roads and a foot trail would be used to access the project <br />area. A small tool box would be kept within the disturbed area for tool storage. No trees would be removed. <br />A small amount of stone wall terracing would continue within the proposed disturbed azea for erosion <br />control. <br />Amazonite No. 8 <br />Amaze;nite No. 8 proposal is located in Teller County approximately six .-;tiles north cf Lake George, CO in <br />Section 11 of Township 11 South, Range 71 West, 6'" P. M. This mining operation would be from August to <br />October of 2007 and could be authorized for one year through Forest Service approval of a plan of <br />operations. <br />This proposal would be to use a small back hoe and hand tools to reopen an existing dig site totaling 2,500 <br />squaze feet for the purpose of prospecting and exploring for locatable minerals. The dig site may temporarily <br />close NFS road 752. Prior to closure, the Forest Service would determine the feasibility of a reroute and <br />require the operator to reroute the NFS road to a suitable location. If a reroute is not feasible, the NFS road <br />maybe closed temporarily during the operating season. The operator would be required to restore the NFS <br />road to Forest Service specifications immediately following dig site closure, prior to the end of the operating <br />season. The workforce would consist of a maximum of two workers for 30 days of the opemting season. <br />During this time, the operator.would use a recreational vehicle or tent to camp at a nearby location on NFS <br />land. A small chemical or compost toilet would be used for human waste. The waste would be removed <br />from NFS land and disposed of according to local and state regulations. Existing NFS roads would be used to <br />access the project area. No structwes were proposed. Approximately five trees would be removed from the <br />
