texture. The overall classification of this series for use as a reclamation
material is fair for each horizon.
• 4.3 TOPSOIL SALVAGE EVALUATION
Three mapping units occur within the proposed disturbed area. Refer to
Appendix E Colorado Westmoreland Ines Permit Revision Application dated
August 18, 1986, Map entitled "Mine Bench Fill, Mine Cut and Haul Raad
Design" for the location of proposed disturbed areas. Mapping Unit 1, Delson
Deep and Delson Very Deep comprises 7.5 acres of the proposed disturbed area
while Mapping Unit 4, Saraton-Beenom Complex and Mapping Unit 2, Saraton
Stoney loam comprise 0.3 and 0.9 acres, respectively. The following presents
the potential salvageable topsoil material from the proposed disturbed areas.
Mapping Unit 1, Delson Deep and Delson Very Deep
Horizon Acreage De th ft. Salvage of this soil
will provide a surface topdressing of 12 inches over the entire disturbed
area upon final abandonment and reclamation. CWI experience indicates that
acceptable revegetation meeting the proposed rangeland land use goals can be
achieved with 12 inches of suitable topsoil.

5
